Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a your pedicure treatments and a cosmetic pedicure in a beauty salon?
A cosmetic pedicure focuses mainly on beautifying the nails, removing some dead skin cells and providing a relaxing treatment. The goal is to make the feet look beautiful but it ignores real foot problems and sometimes creates them.
Our pedicure treatment, on the other hand, specializes in treating foot problems that have a more medical cause, such as ingrowing toenails, calluses, corns, or cracks. These treatments are intended to relieve pain and prevent further complications. A certified pedicure has undergone additional training and works according to strict hygiene protocols and guidelines established by ProVoet for (medical) foot care.
What actually happens during a treatment?
During the pedicure treatment, your feet are carefully cared for and any foot problems are addressed. The treatment usually starts with a foot examination to assess what care your feet need. We then disinfect your feet, your nails are thinned with a nail drill where necessary and, where possible, cut and mechanically finished, and the nail area is cleaned. Calluses and corns are removed and ingrowing nails or other specific ailments are treated. Finally, your feet are rubbed with a nourishing cream, making them feel soft and supple again.
Why do I have to book an intake for the first treatment?
During your first pedicure treatment, it is important to have an intake interview. During this intake, we will discuss your foot health, any ailments, and your medical history. This way, we can put together a customised treatment that perfectly matches your needs and any problems. It also helps us to recognise any risk factors early and to ensure the best possible care for your feet.
What are the benefits of a pedicure treatment?
A pedicure treatment offers several benefits for the health and appearance of your feet:
1. Healthier feet: It prevents and treats foot problems such as calluses, corns and ingrown nails.
2. Better hygiene: Your feet are thoroughly cleaned, which helps prevent infections and fungus.
3. Pain Relief: Removing calluses or treating ingrowing toenails can relieve pain and improve comfort.
4. Well-groomed appearance : After a pedicure, your feet will look well-groomed and beautiful, with well-groomed nails and soft skin.
5. Prevention of problems : Regular pedicure treatments can help detect and treat foot problems early, preventing long-term complications.
Is a Pedicure something for me?
Certainly! A pedicure is for both men and women and is suitable for you if you have specific foot problems that require medical care, such as calluses, corns, cracks or ingrown nails or other conditions that cause pain or affect daily functioning, but also if you want your nails and feet to be cared for in an hygienic environment and you prefer to be treated in a professional and private setting, you have come to the right place. We offer expert care and advice to keep your feet healthy and to effectively tackle any problems.
How do I know if I need a specialist technique?
A specialist technique is, for example, placing a nail brace, also known as nail regulation, or an artificial nail or overlay, a nail repair.
A nail brace is placed when you suffer from an ingrown toenail or a nail that is in danger of growing in. The brace helps the nail to grow slowly into the right shape, which reduces the pressure and pain and prevents further ingrowth.
A nail repair is performed when your nail is damaged, for example after trauma or a fungal infection. With a nail repair, the damaged part of the nail is repaired with a special gel or artificial nail, so that the nail looks great again and can grow out without any problems.
Why do I have to remove nail polish from my nails before my appointment?
Before your pedicure appointment, it is important to remove any nail polish from your nails so that we can properly assess the condition of your nails. Nail polish can cover up any problems such as discoloration, fungal infections, or damage to the nail, making it more difficult to accurately diagnose and treat them properly. By keeping your nails clean and free of polish, we can provide the best care and ensure the health of your nails.
Why don't we remove the nail polish?
We work according to hygiene regulations with gloves that are damaged by nail polish remover.
If you do come to your appointment with nail polish on, we will only treat what is possible and we will not be able to treat the nails or identify any nail problems.
What if I am late for my appointment?
We advise you to arrive approximately 5 minutes before your appointment. If you are less than 15 minutes late, we can only do part of the treatment in the remaining time that is left, however the full appointment will be charged. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we can no longer guarantee the appointment and the full amount will be charged.
What is the latest I can reschedule or cancel my appointment?
Appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled up to 48 hours in advance. We may then be able to schedule your spot with another patient.
In case of late or no cancellation, the full rate of the treatment will be charged.
I'm not sure which treatment to book, what now?
Don't worry! Send a message via whatsapp or email and we will contact you as soon as possible so we can discuss the different options.
You work hygienically, what is expected of me?
Hygiene is very important to us and we do everything we can to create a hygienic working environment for you.
We also expect you to maintain good personal hygiene.
